For that reason, an ordinary conference table wouldn’t work. They wanted one that nobody had ever seen before, and we were pretty sure that nobody had ever seen a table with motion. We began with a five foot diameter round steel center section to emphasize the ‘industrial’ feel their office already had. To add some elegance and functionality to the table, five foot ‘blades’ of clear finished maple veneer with a black edgeband were attached to the core.

But then we took it a step further to make them rotate around the center by designing a track system under the table and mounting them on castered legs. The result was a completely unique table that is custom configurable. Need it to seat a bunch of people? Cool, just straighten it out. Need it to fit in the corner so there’s room for the Casual Friday Dance Party? No problem, turn the blades perpendicular to each other and there’s room for the DJ and the chips and dip. Livengood/Nowack was pretty stoked, their clients had never seen a table that cool.
